Stretching, Blue Soul by ~devilspawn:icondevilspawn:

I swear her eyes never looked so blue
Before she gazed at the stretching sky.
She looked so long that she felt the world stop
So the clouds could float gently by.

I called her name but received no reply;
Her ears were with whispers, soft and sweet.
I touched her shoulder but she never moved;
She was lost in the clouds where the strong winds meet.

Maybe she wished to escape and be free
From a world cruel, cutting, and cold.
Perhaps she only wanted to fly
On the wings of a stretching, blue soul.

The sky is a marvelous thing to get lost in.

"And I've turned into this smiling, smiling monster."

*snuggle* This piece is somehow sweetly sad to me. I've experienced something like this as well -- watching the sky for a while and wanting to just float up and be part of the great expanse of heaven, and just be above all the sadness that sometimes comes with life. When I read the piece, I was also oddly reminded of Narcissus, and the way he would gaze at his own reflection in the water, obsessing over it and sighing in sadness that he could not be with that beautiful creature he glimpsed in the water's depths. Heh, not saying that -she- is obsessing like that, of course. :D

Perhaps she is a fallen angel, wishing to go home.
